Implementing a Sustainable Integrated Online Learning Platform for the USP’s Senior Seminar Module

Mark Brantner

Overview

1.The module has been sustained across seven iterations and this grant supported those iterations.
2. We provided a faculty development workshop for USP faculty, as well as faculty from other NUS faculties.
3. We provided writing support for students in the USP Writing Center, which focused on writing in online environments.
4. We have revamped the website for the module. This revision includes semester schedules, assignments, grading rubrics, etc. In addition, it includes an ePortfolio Showcase that houses models of student writing.
5. In order to make the platform sustainable, we developed “how to” instructions for ePortfolios and posted them online for student and faculty access. These “how to” pages provide student support and pedagogical development for faculty.
6. We have 80% of a draft of an article (currently 8,200 words of 10,000 words). We expect to send out the article before August.
7. The redesigned module has gone through CRC in SM 2 AY2017/18.
8. Guaranteeing sustainability, the cost of running the module and faculty and student support will be taken over by USP, beginning AY 2018/19.
