Flipped Classroom Mastery Learning

Overview

We built the technology used in the project on top of the Coursemology system (http://coursemology.org/). The system is experimental but some of the features project are being implemented in the production version of Coursemology so that some of the courses can continue using it after the end of the project.
Evaluation was done to examine the effectiveness of the methods that were tried. Overall, the outcomes are positive although the effects are modest – measured improvements in outcome are between 0.3 to 1 standard deviation rather than 2 standard deviations as achieved by Bloom. Surveys show that the majority of students like the technology used. The details are described in the Evaluation section.
